Vote for Transparency in Communication

Updated: Jan 26

The current Waukesha School District administration and board have failed countless times to provide families in our district timely and transparent communication on many important matters.

At the start of the school year, the lack of bus drivers caused major delays and route cancellations. The lack of timely communication left families scrambling over a holiday weekend to find transportation just 4 days before the first day of school. There is no doubt the district knew transportation would be severely impacted, but they failed to communicate with transparency.

When the district was planning to end the Personalized Learning Programs at the middle schools, they failed to communicate their intentions with families in a timely manner. This left families unsure if they should submit applications to other programs such as STEM Academy or await a final decision to keep these programs open.

The closure of Whittier without input from families, the banning of books from our libraries, and most recently, the failure to communicate transparently about the bomb threats at Butler Middle School are also examples of their unwillingness to keep families informed.

The reason is clear. The current board and administration have prioritized creating divisive policies ahead of transparency and academic excellence. After several years it has taken its toll on the district. Our school district continues to be the lowest rated district in Waukesha County, teacher resignations have doubled in the past 2 years, and enrollment is declining.

We need a change in leadership that will prioritize timely and transparent communication and get our schools moving in a more positive direction.
